Enjoy Fewer Germs and
Less Odor

The air moving through your home passes through your heating and cooling system dozens of times a day. That means anything living in your ductwork, on your coils, or in your filter gets a free ride into every room. A UV light system stops that cycle at the source. Installed directly inside your equipment, it uses focused ultraviolet energy to target mold, bacteria, and airborne germs before they have a chance to spread. Pelles Heating & Cooling has been helping families in Southern Butler County and north of Pittsburgh breathe easier for nearly 30 years, and UV lights are one of the simplest upgrades we install.

WHY IT MATTERS

Signs your home could use a UV light

Most homeowners don’t think about what’s living inside their ductwork until something tips them off. Here's what usually gives it away:

  • A MUSTY SMELL THAT RETURNS NO MATTER HOW OFTEN YOU CLEAN

  • VISIBLE MOLD OR MILDEW NEAR YOUR INDOOR COIL OR DRAIN PAN

  • SOMEONE IN THE HOUSE DEALING WITH FREQUENT ALLERGIES OR SINUS TROUBLE

  • A COIL THAT KEEPS GROWING BUILDUP SHORTLY AFTER CLEANING

  • COOKING, PET, OR SMOKE ODORS THAT LINGER LONGER THAN THEY SHOULD

  • A RECENT ILLNESS THAT SEEMED TO PASS BETWEEN FAMILY MEMBERS

THE SCIENCE, SIMPLIFIED

How UV lights protect your home

A UV light system mounts inside your ductwork or near your indoor coil and stays on around the clock. As air passes through, short-wave ultraviolet (UV-C) energy disrupts the DNA of mold spores, bacteria, and viruses, stopping them from multiplying. Here’s what that means for your home:

  • FEWER AIRBORNE GERMS

UV energy neutralizes many of the bacteria and viruses that circulate through a home’s ductwork.

  • A CLEANER COIL

Mold and bacterial growth on your indoor coil is one of the top reasons systems lose efficiency over time. UV lights keep that surface clear.

  • LESS STUBBORN ODOR

Cooking smells, pet dander, and mildew break down at the source instead of just getting filtered out.

  • A SYSTEM THAT LASTS LONGER

A cleaner coil and drain pan mean less strain on your equipment and fewer service calls down the road.

  • QUIET, CONSTANT PROTECTION

There’s nothing to remember. Once it’s installed, it runs on its own.

Where UV lights fit in your system

UV lights install into virtually any ducted heating and cooling system, no matter who installed your equipment or which brand you run. Most installs take less than a day and require no changes to your existing ductwork. If you’re already planning IAQ upgrades like a whole-home air cleaner or a dehumidifier, a UV light pairs well with either one.

We service all major brands of UV Lights

Our technicians are trained to work on virtually any make or model, regardless of who installed the system. If your brand isn’t listed, contact us.

FAQs

Common questions our customers have about
UV Lights

We serve Mars, Cranberry Township, Southern Butler County, and areas north of Pittsburgh. Give us a call at 724-625-2444 and we’ll get a technician out to assess your home.

Yes. Like any mechanical system, ventilation systems need periodic filter changes and inspections to keep them running well. Our NATE-certified technicians (North American Technician Excellence) are experienced in the maintenance and care of fresh air and ventilation systems.

If you’re noticing condensation on windows, musty smells, or family members with worsening allergies indoors, those are strong signs that you and your home can benefit from a ventilation system. Our technicians can assess your home’s air quality and tell you honestly whether a ventilation upgrade makes sense, or whether a smaller fix will do the job.

Not with the right equipment. Energy and heat recovery ventilators are built specifically to bring in fresh air without losing the conditioned air you’ve already paid to heat or cool. That’s the whole point of the technology.

Your heating and cooling system moves air around the house and adjusts temperature. It doesn’t bring in new outdoor air. A ventilation system’s whole job is that exchange, fresh air in, stale air out, so the two systems actually work together rather than doing the same thing.

Opening windows helps sometimes, but it’s not reliable. It lets in outdoor allergens, undoes your heating and cooling efficiency, and isn’t practical in winter or summer. A ventilation system exchanges air continuously and automatically, without the energy loss.

Yes. Our NATE-certified technicians (North American Technician Excellence) install UV light systems on virtually any ducted heating and cooling equipment, regardless of who installed it originally. If you’re not sure whether your system qualifies, give us a call.

Not usually. Most systems mount directly into your existing ductwork near the indoor coil, and installation is typically finished in a single visit. There’s no rework needed on your duct system itself.

No, and it isn’t meant to. Filters and UV lights solve different problems. Filters trap particles as air passes through. UV lights target the biological growth living inside your system. Used together, they cover more ground than either one alone.

Most UV bulbs are rated for one to two years of continuous use before they need replacing. Beyond that, there’s very little to maintain. We check bulb function during your regular maintenance visits so it’s never something you have to track yourself.
